Learning music theory?

random_lad_07 asked:

Ok, ive just took up music but am way behind on the theory level i need to be at. So, im looking for any recommendations as to where i can learn up around grade 5 music theory(books, websites etc.). I realy need to learn swiftly and the easier the materials are to follow the better. Obviously i understand it will be difficult but im up to the challange. Thanks in advanced.

I live by . It was a great tool to use before I went to college. Also, it helps to have some piano experience underneath your belt. Have any friends that you can get a lesson from?
Good for you for being interested and up for the challenge!

well, i applaud you for trying to learn music theory. i played piano for 6-7 years and didnt learn piano theory till i was on like level 8 and the last yr…lol. u dont need theory to play piano. but if you already play it, you will understand it and just not kno what everything is called. but if you really want to learn it, i suggest books. :D good luck!
