Slapping takes a little getting used to but then you're pretty much good for life once you get it down. I get the impression you already know how to slap, so just try to keep your thumb straight with the strings and practice it to every song you know, once you have good "aim" so to say, and can hit the strings with the same amount of force everytime, you should have no trouble going faster.
