Bass or Electric guitar which is better to learn and play?

my friend play both instruments
hes in a band btw
hes plays bass
but outside the band he plays guitar
he says bass is easier but bass only backs up the guitar sound
from the type of music he plays
if you want to be more noticed ply guitar
he said its hard because you have to lean chords
and trus me
chords are pretty damn annoying

If you’re doing it properly, then one is no more easier or difficult than the other. It’s a matter of different skills to master.

it depends on what your more into, both are pretty fun, bass guitar is a little easier in my opinion but bass guitar is usually part of the rhythm section a song where a guitar often times is the melodic line. So if you want to play the parts of songs that you recognize then go with guitar and if you like rhythm or don’t care which one you play go with bass

an electric may take more time but you can do more with it.

there are less bass players yet guitar players are a dime a dozen its easy to learn bass and hard to master and the opposite for guitar
