I also got bored with it and started learning the piano....I took Guitar lessons later on...Guitar, Flute, Piano, Trombone, and The Bells believe it or not...Use the same exact notes!!! I know because I've played them all...So to answer your question...Yes It would be alot easier to play guitar or piano (vice versa) because the notes are the same!! It is SO worth learning though!
