How should I prepare to go to college for music recording?

I want to go to this college for recording arts and also get a degree in the entertainment business. I was wondering if anyone has any tips about what I should do to prepare to go in terms of learning the lingo of the entertainment business, music studio terms, or anything important like that to really get the edge on those who I’ll be in school with. Also where can I start learning about those things…in other words where do I get the material to learn about what you recommend.

I think what you want is a degree in a field that relates to the entertainment business! There’s no “showbiz major.” If you’ve already decided on a college to attend, just be patient. If it’s the right school, they’ll teach you everything you need to know once you get there. Keep your ears open for internship opportunities while you’re in school, and visit your college’s career center often. Talk to the advisors there. It’s what they’re for! If you’ve got some time to go before college and you can’t wait, there are numerous books you can read about the music industry and the recording process–check out Amazon!
