There is no electric guitar that is priced for $150 and less. It really depends on what kind of music you like. The acoustic guitar plays much softer music than the electric which is more rock. With the $150 budget, you will have to get an acoustic.

I’d start out on an acoustic, because if you’re just starting out your probally don’t want to mess with the amp…ect.

You should start with acoustic and work your way up.
But it doesn’t really matter, you learn guitar either way weither you get an acoustic or an electric. It just depends…….
I’m learning to play guitar too and I have an acoustic, I really want electric but my Dad wants me to learn acoustic first sooo….. yeah.
And plus, acoustic is easier to learn, so when you master acoustic, you’ll probably be pretty good at electric.

these answeres are pretty good. you should develop calysis first with an acoustic or else the electric will rip your fingers up. also a good electric guitar costs $150+

electric is easier to play ( stem is thinner)

i play the acoustic guitar and it is so much easier to learn. its still hard, but ive played the eletric guitar before at lessons and te strings are so close together that its difficult to hit the right one. definately get an acoustic, makes a much prettier nois, and you dont have too buy an amp.

Get an acoustic to start off (a cheap one) with and then if you do start to get a little bit bored because your actually a HARD ROCKER!!!!! then just get a cheap crappy electric one. if u like it then get a better one. Also dont try to give up on acoustic straight away, try to get a few grades (maybe grade 3??) until you quit if you really really hate it. Trust me learning guitar is useful, it help your hand to eye cordination LOADS.

Start with acoustic for now, while you learn and save your money. Eventually, you can graduate to electric.

It really depends on what you wanna learn. If you want to play stuff like Metallica, you want an electric. If you’re playing Woodie Guthrie stuff, you want an acoustic. Neither is “easier” to play. If you want a good compromise, get a semi-hollowbody electric. There are hollow chambers that will amplify your guitar acoustically, but if you want to plug it into an amp and blast some distortion, you still can.
And trust me, there are guitars under $150. Check guitarcenter.com.
