You must contact a professional to learn from.
No book can teach you guitar in a better way as a professional.
First practise the guitar for 1 month or so on and then purchase a guitar.
You will automatically recognise the quality of a better guitar.
That’s my experience.

There are some budget-priced guitars that have come out in the last few years that are actually pretty good quality. I don’t know if you’re looking for acoustic or electric, but either way you can get a nice-quality guitar for $250 or so that you won’t be ashamed to be playing when you get better in a few years. Just look around online and read reviews. I like Musician’s Friend for online shopping (see link in sources)
I don’t know a whole lot about books; I think if you’re going to follow a curriculum you should have an instructor. The internet is also a great resource for chords and tablature for your favorite songs, which is a nice and motivating place to start learning.
